a song from your preteen years
#30daysongchallenge
Well, choosing this song makes me old. This version in the Spotify list is not the one I actually refer to, but you easily can find the song on youtube.
„They can see in the Dark“ by Jim Gray is the title song from „Der kleine Vampir“ (The little Vampire). A children TV series from the 80s. It was co-produced in Germany and in Canada, so it looks different cmpared to other childrens TV shows. And I guess they had a few goths involved, too. It was a bit scary and weird. The character Lumpi (played by Jim Gray) sang this song, a young vampire and goth icon.
If you find yourself at a goth party – ask for this song to be played by the DJ. I always measure the reaction of the DJ to the quality of the music. Really, it is a classic 80s song with the obscure connection to an early exposure to goth culture in my case. No wonder that I’m still drawn to men who wear dark eyeliner… it explains all.
You know they can fly
Can fly oh so high
If you see one tonight
Don’t put up a fight
Make peace while you can
Make a friend if you dare
A friend who can fly
Can fly oh so high
And see in the dark
And live under the earth
Make a friend if you can
Of vampires
(they can see in the dark)
