Song of Ice and Snow (Song 13)

a song you like from the 70s

#30daysongchallenge

The 70s were probably wild. I wouldn’t really know I am from the 80s. Nevertheless I grew up to appreciate the music that came before. Led Zeppelin was a big part of this musical education. Legendary rock, legendary songs.

The „Immigrant Song“ has a certain surge and a power that just electrifys the listener. Maybe „Stairway to Heaven“ or „Whole Lotta Love“ are the more popular songs but „Immigrant Song“ is most iconic for the band. Despite all blues influences you can hear in their sound – Led Zep were highly influencial to metal and progessive metal – which is of course highlighted in this song about a viking attack. I mean. Really. You can read more about that on wikipedia or many fanpages.
One more reason I like it, is because it was used in „Thor: Ragnarok“ – a wonderful combination of sound and vision.
